Imagine a city divided. A city where human and Fae magic rests uneasily next to the vampire Blood and the shape shifting Beasts. A city where a fragile peace is brokered by a treaty that set the laws for all four races…a treaty that is faltering day by day.

Her father is a Fae with hidden powers willing to do anything to further his own ends, even use illegal compulsion on his own blood.   Holly hasn't had many options to keep food on the table, pay medical bills, and keep those she considers family safe.  So she turned to thieving and spying to bring in the necessary money.  What she didn't anticipate was being used by those she hates.  When an accidental meeting catapults her into the arms of Guy DuCaine, the legendary Templar Knight, everything changes.  Trying to work around the spell placed on her and protecting her friends and family, she will have to choose between love and loyalty.... or can they both work out in the end?

A good series, each willing to be dark.  The author has no compunction about using her characters in amoral ways to reach the goal.  Each character does what is deemed necessary and almost never what they truly want to do.  Well written and portrayed.  Much darker than you would think.  Good read.
